The role

Help safeguard critical data services used by customers, colleagues and markets. You will design, implement and run data resilience across on-prem and cloud, delivering the intent of PRA SS1/21, FCA PS21/3 and DORA.

What you will do

  • Design, implement and maintain infrastructure resilience across on-prem and cloud.
  • Define hosting and recovery strategies for critical platforms and services.
  • Evaluate architectures against RTO, RPO, cost and performance.
  • Develop and automate recovery runbooks for infrastructure and applications.
  • Orchestrate restore workflows, integrity checks and cutover processes.
  • Lead disaster recovery drills with Network, Infrastructure, Platform and Data teams.
  • Capture findings and drive remediation to strengthen resilience.
  • Protect core platforms such as databases, messaging, batch schedulers and file or object stores.
  • Standardise and optimise backup and snapshot strategies across technologies.
  • Integrate with ServiceNow for Incident, Change and Problem.
  • Maintain CMDB accuracy for infrastructure, backup tools, storage and networks.
  • Track and report resilience metrics including backup success, recovery success, RPO and MTTR.
  • Present performance and risk reduction to senior leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with resilience standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Feed outcomes into Data Resilience Assessments.

What you will need

  • Hands-on delivery of infrastructure solutions for resilience and recovery.
  • Cloud and on-prem expertise across compute, storage, networking, segmentation and connectivity.
  • Proven disaster recovery experience including automated restore, rebuild and cutover.
  • Backup and recovery for databases, messaging queues, batch jobs and large-scale data stores.
  • Experience running end-to-end disaster recovery drills with audit trails and RTO or RPO compliance.
  • Strong ITIL knowledge for Major Incident, Problem and Change leadership.
  • ServiceNow skills including CMDB modelling, Discovery, Flow Designer and workflow automation.
  • Security-first mindset including encryption, key rotation, secrets management and dual control.
  • Automation skills in PowerShell, Python, Terraform or similar.
  • Stakeholder engagement across CISO, Platforms, Networks, DBAs and Risk.
  • Regulatory awareness of PRA SS1/21, FCA PS21/3 and DORA, with practical IBS and impact tolerance.
