About the Role

Marcus by Goldman Sachs is the firm’s direct-to-consumer business, combining the entrepreneurial spirit of a start-up with over 150 years of experience.

We serve millions of customers across multiple products, leveraging innovative design, data, and engineering to deliver tools that are grounded in value, transparency, and simplicity.

We’re looking for an experienced Data Engineer to help expand and optimise our cloud-based data pipeline architecture. You’ll work at scale, building high-performance data systems that support critical business insights and decision-making.


Your Impact

As part of the Marcus engineering team, you’ll:

  • Design, build, and optimise robust data pipelines and reporting tools
  • Enhance and scale our cloud-based data infrastructure
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and analysts to enable insight-driven decisions
  • Ensure data systems are efficient, scalable, and secure

Basic Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in data processing and software engineering
  • Proven ability to build high-quality, scalable data products
  • Experience with distributed data technologies (Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, EMR, etc.)
  • Strong software engineering skills with Python
  • Solid understanding of data architecture, modelling, and infrastructure
  • Experience building ETL workflows and pipelines
  • Strong SQL skills, including query optimisation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent industry experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building scalable applications in the cloud (AWS, Google Cloud, etc.)
  • Experience with stream-processing frameworks (Spark Streaming, Apache Flink, Kafka, etc.)
